Welcome to Jazz.com

I have recently begun listening to Jazz; I found that it relaxes me when I am stressed out. I have been listening to a lot of David Sanborn, I love how he has an understanding of music and how music should be played, and he is truly talented. My friend at umgd told me that He has a new album Here and Gone coming out August 12th. I am excited for that to come out! You can listen to some of his new stuff on his myspace page.

I have to admit I haven’t listened to a lot of David Sanborn, but I went and looked him up to remind me. Yes…smooth jazz… well nothing essentially wrong with that, but not ‘jazz’ (to my mind) in the strictest sense of the word. I used to listen to a lot of Grover Washington but also not really ‘jazz’ but then what is? I like the idea that jazz can be whatever it damn well chooses to be. And there’s a place for everything in this big wide world.
