IAJE bankruptcy

I see nobody has posted about this yet here. I’m of the opinion that the bankruptcy of IAJE is good news: quite a few musicians I know have thought for years that the organization was suspect, and that the annual meetings were way too much of an “industry track” schmooze-fest to be of much good for the average educator or musician, who very often couldn’t afford to come anyway (imagine how much it must have cost the organization to have so many meetings in New York). If new leadership steps in, cleans up the financial situation and perhaps refocuses the organization on education and being of some real use to the average teacher, maybe some good will come of the entire sorry episode. |
