hello, im a younger fan of jazz, meaning im just starting to become interested. can anyone offer me some suggestions as far as SOLO TRUMPET OR SAX performances that are good? im looking for stricly solos. no drums, now duets. one guy one horn…help?

I am fond of Lone Lee a solo alto sax recording by NEA Jazz Master Lee Konitz.

There are only two tracks on this release – “Cherokee” and “The Song is You.” But Konitz works them over at length. I believe that these versions would be especially helpful for an aspiring saxophonist who is practicing chord-based improvisation. It’s almost like getting a chance to overhear one of Lee’s practice sessions.
