Topic: The Brazilian Thread

Thanks for catching that mistaken URL. I’ve fixed it for future viewers. Thanks also for catching the text display issue. It may have had to do with the two spaces but I’m not sure. I fixed it by spacing back and capitalizing the “E” . I’ll check out your YouTube suggestions too. Muito Obrigado Thanks

Topic: The Brazilian Thread

This topic will, invariably, need to be divided into other threads but we have to start somewhere.

I was inspired by a video on YouTube. Joyce (pronounced JOY see) is one of my favorites in the MPB/Jazz/Samba/Bossa vein. We don’t know her very well in the States but she’s fantastic. Great rhythmic feel and execution, a heck of a guitarist and vocalist. Check out this example at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnYRHmLHHVQ

By the way, that’s Maurício Maestro (of Boca Livre fame) on bass and Tutty Moreno on drums. This song is a lot harder to do than meets the eye (and ears). Joyce makes it look so easy. This video is a rare treat but only the tip of the iceberg.
