Get Your Chops Back - Snare Drum Choir
Active Arts’ Snare Drum Choir
Haven’t played in a while and need some stick control? Ready to tune up your drum and get your chops back? Participate in an ensemble of snare drums of different sizes and tuning played with a variety of implements. Participants will explore drumming with a melodic sensibility, experience original compositions, regain solid hand technique, learn concepts for tempo/rhythmic awareness, drum maintenance, and tuning advice.

Once confirmed, Snare Drum Choir rehearsals are 3 hours long, 9:30am to 12:30pm, on July 11, July 25, August 8, August 22, Sept 5, and Sept 19, and held in ATWATER VILLAGE with a final open rehearsal on September 26 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
GYCB Snare Drum Choir is for adult learners (18 years or older), non-professional/ recreational musicians with basic playing and reading skills (standard music notation). Please provide your own stand and snare drum (No marching drums).
Register online anytime by July 5th. Sign up in 3 easy steps:

2. Complete either the registration form.
3. Submit no later than July 5th.
Admission Fee: Sliding scale from $10 to $25.

Explore, expand, and create.
Remember blues scales? Want to experience rhythm changes and chord progressions again? Reconnect with the joy of playing in a group, learn customized arrangements of jazz standards, review and relearn techniques and concepts for creative soloing, create an original composition in collaboration with fellow players, and more.

Once confirmed, Jazz Combo rehearsals are 3 hours long, 9:30am to 12:30pm, on July 18, August 1, August 15, August 29, Sept 5, and Sept 19, and held in DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES with a final open rehearsal on September 26 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
GYCB Jazz Combo is for adult learners (18 years or older), non-professional/ recreational musicians with basic playing and reading skills (standard music notation). Please provide your own instrument: saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, keyboard or drum set.
