Active Arts’ Saxophone Ensemble
Explore, expand, and create.

Explore the connections between classical music and modern jazz. Expand your ability to solo and sing through your horn using various scales, melodic techniques and phrasing concepts. Create a group composition, as well as learn specialized group arrangements inspired by the music of Bach, modal jazz, and more.

Save the Dates!
Once confirmed, saxophone rehearsals are 3 hours long, 9:30am to 12:30pm, on August 2, August 16, Sept 6, Sept 13, and Sept 27, with a final open rehearsal on September 28 at the Grand Avenue Festival.

GYCB Saxophone Ensemble is for adult learners (18 years or older), non-professional/ recreational musicians with basic playing and reading skills (standard music notation). Acoustic instruments only, please bring your own. Soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones are welcome.

Register online anytime between June 16 and July 14. Sign up in 3 easy steps:
1. Go to musiccenter.org (Key Word Search: Active Arts)
2. Complete either the saxophone or flute choir or guitar registration form.
3. Submit no later than July 14.

Admission Fee: Sliding scale from $10 to $25.
Registration required by July 14, 2008.
You will receive final confirmation by July 25.

A low-risk, mistakes-allowed saxophone workshop featuring Traditional/Classical explorations, the Latin sounds of Cumbia, and sonic-art improvisation techniques—all in one day!
